Better pack the wooly hats as it might get a bit nippy round the ears with the top down this weekend . Already packed Mrs Dux's, hats, scarves, blankets, gloves, two coats, earmuffs, nose warmer, hot water bottle, thermal socks and a pair of those long Johns with a cat flap in the arse. ;D

Dear all, don't dispare" south of the border" grttiing services are ready for our arrival, all of the route from Carter bar to Longhirst and from Longhirst to Alston will be gritted in preperation for the run. It pays to have the Mad Geordie on board, never mind the hard tops, get your rust prevention kit at the ready. We have a yellow gritting warning for both days normally that means up to 100mm snow at Carter Bar, getting lighter as you head towards Morpeth/Longhirst. We had a RTA due to the weather yesterday near Carter bar and the border, it closed the A68 for almost 5 hours, so caution may be needed. All the roads are clear and passable with ease at the moment, our web cams are showing no problems, so I'll let you know if there are any issues on the route. 07528187587 if you need a weather update from the gritting man, south of the border. Enjoy.

Can I suggest that we have a " Plan B " ready incase of a heavy snowfall overnight . I realise it would mean cancelling lunch at the agreed hotel but " safety first " ( a catch phrase from a certain MG club ) would make sense. Edinburgh city bypass and the A1 straight into Morpeth is an Alternative route . Don't chop my head off as this is only a suggestion but I want to see my 60th Birthday . Another subtle hint ;D ;D

Another subtle hint ;D ;D We may have to go down the A1 if things are that bad. Another thing is that Morpeth is difficult to access from the west without using some B roads for the final part. 'A' roads 90% of the way. I'll check the cameras at Carter Bar and weather on Saturday morning and we can decide from there. I'm sure you had your 60th a while back. ;D

Our intention is to come down the A1 in any case - just the high winds to contend with?? John

I've checked Traffic Scotland live cameras at 0655hrs for our route and surrounding cameras to get an idea of the road conditions. A68 Carter Bar - Road is clear A7 Hawick - Road is clear A7 Terona South - Road is clear A1 Haddington - Road is clear It looks like wet roads, none with snow on them. I would say it's OK to keep the the original route but we can decide before we leave at 10.30am. trafficscotland.org/livetrafficcameras/

Anne and Iain home from the lunch stop safely in just over 2hrs because Mr Adamson was living up to our reputation and driving like a hooligan I on the other hand drove like the Saint I am and never exceeded the limit once . After all there is a speed camera every 100 metres On a more serious note I was delighted with the turnout from our group and our new friends from south of the Border who I hope we can join up with again on a happier occasion. Well done to Christine for coming along . I am sure David would be very proud of her. Now AM STARVIN ;D ;D. Bring on Saturday night Tapas I believe

Hi peeps, hope you all made it home. It was a pleasure to meet you Northeners and chuffed that the turnout was a large one. Hopefully next time it will be under nicer circumstances. It was a great day, chilly to say the least, but the area and the company certainly made up for it, as did the scones with cream and jam, eh Glenn? Will post some pictures up shortly. Thanks peeps. x

The MGFmad Memorial Run took place on Sunday 24th March 2013. This event would not have been possible without the help from the Border Patrol group and .org. Many thanks for their support and input, in particular CJJ who had to come up with a few contingency plans due to the severe weather conditions.
Thanks also to the .org members who attended. Again, your support was fantastic.
Thanks to those who did not attend but made an online donation to MND Scotland, the charity who supported MGFmad when he was suffering from Motor Neurons disease.
Thanks to Robert and Wilma, and also Jim and Libby Garstang from Northern Ireland and Terry & Lynn Garnick who could not attend this event but sent a donation.
Thanks to Mitchmg for saying a few words to the group on two occasions. It's never been known for him to say a 'few' words.
Thanks to James 'buster' Brown for organising the display of cars in front of the hotel and for being a photographer at the same time.
Thanks also to John and May Cropley who have supported Christine McLennan (MGFmad's wife) and brought her to the event.
Finally, thank you to Christine McLennan for attending today. David McLennan was very well respected in the MGF and TF scene for many years and the turn out at this event by fellow F and TF owners was a display of gratitude to David for the support and advice he gave to everyone who needed help, on a national level.
Thanks to every one who attended and to everyone who made a donation to MND Scotland. The total sum raised was £350GBP Every single penny will go to this charity and Im sure it will go a long way to help those who are suffering from Motor Neuron Disease in Scotland.

I have contacted MND Scotland re the 350GBP that was raised via donations. Here is a copy of the reply. Hi Glenn,
Great to hear from you, and I’m really glad that many of the group managed to make it to Northumberland – the weather definitely conspired against you. I’m sure it was a very poignant way to remember David, and please pass on my sincere thanks to everyone for their generosity. This will help us to make a real difference to the lives of people living in Scotland with MND. It costs approximately £1000 to provide our nursing care service to one person with MND for an entire year, so hopefully this puts into perspective the incredible difference you’ve all made.
If it’s easier for you, you can transfer the funds to us via PayPal at www.mndscotland.org.uk/fundraising/donations/ - as a charity we don’t have any transaction fees from PayPal.
The photos are great and we’ll use some of these on our Facebook page, and in our quarterly magazine.
Many thanks again Glenn, and please let me know if I can be of any assistance.
