The first official MGFreedom run took place on Sunday 29th June 2008. As usual, we met at Stirling Services with the intention to head North as far as the Cairngorms. Three cars turned up, Alan Dunlop, Glenn Neilson and John & Helen dickson. It was decided that John would take the lead today and we set off about 10.45. The weather looked a little unpredictable so tops were initially left up, but not for long as they were dropped soon after we set off and remained down until we stopped for lunch. We headed up the M9 before cutting off for Crieff, where we skirted the north side of the town by a very nice little road that was John's secret bypass on the last run! From here we headed up the Sma Glen towards Amulree before heading over Glen Quaich where we took a photo break. We dropped down into Kenmore and then headed to Tummel Bridge. From here we headed over some great twisty bits to join the A9 briefly to the Spean Bridge following this road for a few miles before turning off towards Newtonmore where we had a very nice lunch at the Glen Hotel. After a leisurely lunch and due to time constraints we decided to take the direct route down the A9 to Perth where we parted company with John & Helen and headed back home. The trip was about 200 miles in total. Alan, Glenn and John (nkosi) Planning the route. The Glen Hotel, Newtonmore.
