The Northumberland trip was the 3rd MGFreedom outing and was a great success. Fortunately the sun shone so seven cars left Bothwell, hoods down, heading for Melrose where we met our friends Terry & Lynne Garnick who had travelled up to meet us from Morpeth to be our guides for the day.

A rare sight. Susan driving on a run!
After a coffee & bun, eight cars headed for the border town of Paxton for lunch. We covered some great roads en route and arrived at Paxton at exactly 1.30 as per our booking (very unusual!).
After a delicious lunch and a chat with the MGF driving owners, we headed south towards Holy Island on the Northumberland Coast. We took some time to explore the island and enjoy an ice cream.

Then we followed the Coast & Castles route down to Longhirst Hall at Morpeth where we were staying for the night.
We decided to eat in the town so taxis were called and we found a nice Chinese restaurant where we spent a very enjoyable evening before retiring to the hotel for a nightcap!
The following morning three local cars turned out to join us for our run to Alnwick. After taking some photos outside the hotel we set off behind Stephen Riddell who had kindly volunteered to be our guide for this part of the trip.

Stephen Riddell took us round some of the more scenic roads in the area before we headed into Alnwick itself.

We spent a couple of hours looking around before regrouping for our trip home. We headed up through Wooler to Coldstream and on through Dalkeith to the outskirts of Edinburgh before we all headed off in differnt directions.
I am sure I can say with some certainty that everyone had a great weekend. The weather was kind, the company entertaining, the roads interesting and the hotel excellent.
Thanks to everyone and I hope you are all looking forward to the next time as much as we are!
