I had been talking about doing a North Ayrshire run for many years with the previous group and finally got round to it in October. It has to be said, that in all my years of F'ing, the weather conditions for this run had to be the worst we have taken to the roads under.
Linwood.
Linwood.
We did have quite a few intrepid souls willing to take our chances so 6 MG's and a Smart Roadster set off from Linwood. I had a selection of twisty and challenging roads in mind (some made all the more so by the weather!) but we tackled them just fine.

Shocking weather today
We made our way down through West Kilbride & Seamill to the beach at Portencross where we stopped for some photos.
papamike struggles against the weather.
After that we wound our way over the Fairlie moor road to Dalry and headed for lunch at Dalgarven House just outside Kilwinning.
We made lunch a leisurely affair as we were not in any particular rush to brave the elements again but the restaurant supplied us with one of the best meals we have ever had on a Sunday run and at very reasonable cost (highly recommended).
Leaving the Dalgarven House.
After lunch we headed over to Fergushill and through Sevenacres Mill to Auchentiber, where we encountered some cattle on the road (which I ended up rounding up into their field much to everyone's amusement!) to Stewarton, Dunlop and back over to Beith where we split up to head home.

It actually turned out better than expected but I think we well revisit that area in better weather next time as I still have plenty great roads up my sleeve.
We had two people attending their first Freedom event today; Dave Mill (I will bring an MG sticker for his Smart next time) and Neil Sutton, so welcome to you guys and hope to see you on future runs.
Alan.
