Hi guys
Not been on for a while ill health forced a lay up and a halt to progress with the f . Anyway had her running again prior to getting her back on her wheels , thing is she ran out of petrol and after putting 15 ltrs in she wouldn't start kept turning over but wouldn't fire . After numerous curses and much head scratching I noticed the fuel pump wasn't priming and set about investigating the cause , after checking inertia cut off , the relay and anything else I could think of I checked the plug at the pump and I'm getting a 3 second burst of power at position 2 on ignition , and power when turning engine over but just no whirring of the pump . Anyway my question is could simply running out of petrol fry my pump or is there something I'm missing . Any help as usual will be greatly appreciated
Thanks Stephen

Don't think running out of petrol would damage the pump.
Is there fuel actually getting to the pump?
Fuzes?
Flooded?
Other than above, I think it may be time to pull it out........

Yeah buster I put a vacuum pump on the pipe at the filter and got petrol through checked online and seems to happen occasionally I'm just unlucky I guess Got power at the pump so that rules out fuses . Looks like a replacement pump is needed Will let you know how I get on

Could it be that is how the pump works ! I remember trying to drain the petrol tank by using the pump on an open end at the engine and this is how it behaved . The pump primes itself for a few seconds and gets to pressure , then waits for the engine to fire up and then the pump kicks in . Are you absolutely sure the immobiliser is playing the game ? Just my thoughts Stephen .

I just don't know mitch I've tried everything I can think of . I would've thought if it was the immobiliser then no power would go to it also it doesn't make a sound when ignition is switched on although it gets power for the 3 seconds which I presume would be for the pump to pressurise the system . Think I will just have to change it and see if that cures the problem .
Won't thin is I have never driven the car got it as a project with a dickie clutch done that then was ill for a while and I was in the process of finishing her off still got to put tyres on rear rims , strip and free front brakes , get suspension pumped up then mot but just another set back Who said cars were a good hobby
